Situated in the borough of Camden, Whittington House is looking to undergo a full refurbishment in several phases. Our client, a cutting-edge research and technology company, has an objective to enhance the floor space and quality of working environment for their employees. The works are being carried out in phases due to the building remaining occupied throughout and needing to reduce disturbance to their working staff.
8build were appointed to undertake the complete strip out and fit out of the 3rd floor in Whittington house, the floor was previously let to another client and required the re-fit it to a high specification and in line with the other floors that we have previously completed. Level 3 is primarily an office environment with a high date usage and complimented with tea points, break out areas and locker spaces.
- Working within a live building with occupied floors above and below the works caused various challenges with noise transfer, this was mitigated by having a reduced ‘noisy working period’ which was only allowed for two hours per day.
- Access and egress for delivery of materials was restricted and controlled, this was not to block the live staircases and cause issues with fire evacuation requirements.
- A fair amount of re-design was tabled throughout the project which had to be absorbed into the program. This was achieved by good communication with the client and our supply chain.
