St Paul's Girls' School

Hammersmith

The Project

The client is a private girls’ school located in Hammersmith West London. The project was a new build 6th form and humanities building located at the rear of the school site. There was an existing relationship between the school’s bursar and our team. The building ethos was to retain the looks of the existing main school building and provide a space that the students could be proud of. This project was the second phase of the school’s overall masterplan. The building comprises of offices, social spaces, a café and classrooms.

Overcoming challenges

This site logistics were extremely challenging; all works were carried out in an occupied school. We worked hard, along with input from the school to eliminate the risk of vehicles going through the live school site at anytime. We complied with our client’s emergency procedures and made sure the requirements of their safeguarding policy were met at all times.

Another challenge was the close proximity of the building to the existing wall. Throughout the design period, we had to make sure that the works will not undermine the existing wall that backed on to the residential gardens.
