The critically acclaimed West End theatre company has built a reputation for artistic excellence over the last 20 years, showcasing the industry’s premier creative artists through an unparalleled catalogue of work. We were selected to develop their new offsite facilities on 1 – 3 Dryden Street, that included new rehearsal facilities, a music room, educational space, offices and a flat for short term directors/producers to use.
The initial stage of the works involved the demolition of the basement and ground floor slab. On completion of these works, the foundation underpinning works took place. The ground floor slab removal commenced, followed by the installation of a new steel structural support system, which was necessary for the creation of a new double height rehearsal space. Works continued with a full refurbishment of the building’s windows and the demolition and reconstruction of the core, floors, lift shafts and stairs. This involved removing the basement stairs, main core slab and a section of staircase. Once the staircase was removed and the lift shaft clear of all existing structures, the team began erecting the new steel work, lift and reconfiguring the new roof.
