In January 2015, 8build became a patron of CRASH, the Construction Industry’s chosen charity. CRASH are a unique practical charity that create caring environments for vulnerable people in homeless and hospice charities. They do this by offering pro bono professional expertise, sourcing building materials and the technical knowledge to use them and awarding cash grants sourced from their Patron companies.

We are proud to have got involved in supporting CRASH so far in a variety of ways with their construction projects, fundraising campaigns, events and social media campaigns to raise awareness of this excellent cause. To find out more about CRASH click here.

Our main objective is to prevent injury or occupational ill health to anyone who could be affected by our company operations.

To ensure this we strive to provide the safest workplace possible for our employees, subcontractors, clients and others who visit and go near our construction projects.

To support this we are committed to providing all the resources necessary to eliminate injury and incidents. Through site inductions, training, tool box talks and education programs we also provide our employees and subcontractors with the tools, knowledge and resources they need to safely reduce risk on every project we manage.

We are also members of ROSPA, the SAFEcontractor scheme, CHAS, Achilles and Constructionline. Alongside this we also hold a CSCS platinum certificate for our commitment to health and safety and have excellent Accident Incident Rate statistics.

We organise our management skills and use our resources in the most efficient manner to produce projects of the highest standard and quality. We always ensure quality control standards are maintained by using the best construction practices within our core activities. Quality starts at the beginning of a project and is a priority throughout the whole construction process.

There are always ways of doing things better, so we constantly seek ways to enhance our project delivery service. Therefore, we have chosen to implement a quality management system compliant with the internationally recognised BSI standard of ISO 9001:2008.

We want to improve the quality of life of the future generations. We also understand that everything we do on the project site as a supplier reflects our clients. We look to only impact the environment in a positive way by managing construction activities that eliminate the risk of pollution, minimise waste, maximize recycling and avoid nuisance to neighbours. We do this in the following ways:

  • Using engineering services that produce the least carbon emissions
  • Making sure all our subcontractors share our concerns
  • Minimise the waste we produce and encourage the use of sustainable material
  • Consider the transport impacts from material delivery miles and encourage staff to travel by public transport
  • Train all operatives in sustainable ways of working

This is supported by our flat hierarchical structure, which has a strong core platform of operational leaders, allowing the founders to explore and pursue new ideas.
