Steve is a Founding Board Director of 8build. He heads up the Fit Out side of the business with Paul Norman. He has had over 25 years of construction experience at both site and management levels. After graduating from the University of Westminster with an Honours Degree in Construction Management, he started his career with Mowlem as a management trainee followed by 3 years with Lelliotts and Shoralplan as a site agent, then moving on to Stanhope Interior (now ISG) where he spent the next 16 years. Having delivered some of the highest profile projects in London at the time as Project Director, he moved into a divisional management role, and concluded his time as Divisional Managing Director of the London Fit Out operation.

In 2005, having thoroughly enjoyed the process of growing a business, Steve and some of his like-minded colleagues decided to do it all again and form a new company, 8build. Steve brings his excellent communication, interpersonal and political awareness skills to his work at 8build, which is underpinned with determination, a sound technical base, a good helping of common sense and a methodical approach to problem solving.

Carl has had over 35 years of experience within the Construction industry. He joined 8build in 2007, bringing along his wealth of knowledge and has undertaken various roles within in company, from running projects himself, to leading several divisions and to now becoming a Board Director with effect from January 2018.

He began his career at Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons in 1980 where he progressed from a trainee technician to Project Engineer. Roles following this include Project Coordinator at Wimpey Construction Management, Project Manager at Tolent Construction, Project Manager at ISG and then Business Development Manager at Simons Construction Limited before joining 8build. Carl has a proactive attitude, excellent man management and leadership skills, strong business awareness and a firm but fair approach. He prides himself on his calm, measured approach, sense of humour and high standards.

Lesley is 8build’s Financial and HR Director and sits on the Board of Directors. After graduating from University Lesley joined Baker Tilly as an articled clerk and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. From there she was employed by a client in the Construction Industry to be their accountant. She has remained in the Construction sector all of her working life, immersed in aggregate and concrete for many years; working on the Channel Tunnel, Second Severn Crossing, Terminal 5 and Olympic Park to name a few major projects. During that time her experience changed from being within a small family business to a corporate multinational. Prior to joining 8build she was the FD of a division of one of the largest aggregate conglomerates in the world.

Lesley was employed by 8build in 2011 to develop the accounts function and embed a financial control structure in a rapidly growing and ever changing environment. Lesley was promoted to Board Director in 2015. She brings humour, tolerance and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels whilst adding a different perspective, balance and cohesion to the core team.

Nigel is a Founding Board Director of 8build and with his colleagues, has thoroughly enjoyed creating and growing an innovative, friendly and successful Construction Organisation in the UK Market. Nigel heads up the Construction side of the business with Andy Tooley.

He trained as a Quantity Surveyor and qualified as a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1986. Starting his career as a Management Trainee with Costain Construction, he worked mainly on large new build projects. He then moved to Turriff where he spent 2 years working on major refurbishment projects in London. This was followed by 3 years at Deacon Construction and 2 years at NICO. Nigel then became a founding member of a new fit out organisation, ISG, in 1989. He worked hard to build up ISG into the market leader over the next 16 years, rising to the position of Operations Director before leaving to start 8build with like minded colleagues. Through hard work, determination and shared purpose with these colleagues Nigel has created lasting relationships that continue to take 8build from strength to strength.

Andy joined 8build in 2006 as Operations Director and became a Board Director in 2012. Andy and Nigel Bellamy head up 8build’s Construction division. He has over 20 years experience in the Construction Industry at both site and management levels. Paul joined 8build in 2006 as Commercial Director and joined the Board of Directors in 2014. With Steve Oakford, he heads up 8build’s Fit Out side of the business. He started his career as a trainee Financial Manager with Kier after completing his Building Management degree course at Anglia University. From there he moved to Jarvis and following this he joined ISG where he remained for a further 9 years and worked his way up to the position of Senior Financial Manager.

Paul was amongst the 8 individuals that went on from ISG to form 8build. Paul provides a level head when faced with difficult and sometimes complex situations. He is fair but firm in his decisions and embraces new ways of working, constantly looking to improve 8build’s efficiencies. He has excellent communication skills, and provides guidance to our employees on best practice. Paul has a detailed knowledge of 8build’s supply chain and the ability to provide high level cost advice and cost per square foot for development schemes. He has forged a network of lasting relationships within the industry.

Ian joined 8build in 2007 as a Financial Manager and worked his way up to Commercial Manager and then Divisional Director alongside Carl Raison. Ian and Carl’s division deliver a variety of light refurbishment and fit out projects for prestigious clients across a variety of sectors. Ian gained a degree in Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying, and after graduating in 1998 he began his career at Wiltshier Construction Ltd as a trainee Financial Manager. In 2000, he joined ISG as an Assistant Financial Manager working within the fit out division and progressing to Senior Financial Manager.

Ian has been a part of the growth of 8build since the early stages and fully understands its culture and values. He has excellent Construction knowledge and Financial Awareness, great business relationships internally, with clients, professional teams and the subcontractor supply chain, and a sense of humour that strengthens these. He is proud to have developed such a successful division with Carl and to have delivered some superb projects around London.

Molly joined 8build in 2012, starting as an Office Administrator and rising up to Pre-Construction Coordinator in 2013 and then taking on the role as Supply Chain Business Manager in 2015 to Head of Marketing in 2017. She is responsible for all Marketing aspects and strategies and also sourcing and nurturing relationships with 8build’s supply chain.

Molly brings a confident, flexible and proactive approach to her work and is skilled in identifying new sales opportunities and strategies for building strong relationships. With excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and thorough industry knowledge Molly is an asset to the 8build team.

Paul joined 8build in 2009 as a Financial Manager, having spent 8 years working for Mansell Construction previously. During his first 5 years with us, Paul worked on a wide range of projects, demonstrating a well organised and methodical approach to Financial Management. Proving himself to be a reliable and a steady pair of hands, Paul was promoted to the role of Commercial Manager in 2014; where he was responsible for a team of Financial Managers all working across a number of different projects. Paul was able to build on his leadership skills and business awareness to become a key member of the division he was working within.
Over the course of Paul’s 8 years with us; he has been involved with a wide variety of projects and sectors, project values, procurement types and contracts all of which have brought their own unique set of circumstances and challenges. Recently, Paul has been promoted to Divisional Director working within a Management Group alongside 3 other key team members; together they are responsible for overseeing 3nr multi sector divisions and their respective project teams.
Paul is responsive, quick to act and prides himself on ‘getting the job done’.

Nick joined 8build in 2011 as a project Financial Manager, progressing to Commercial Manager in 2014, to a Divisional Director in 2017. Working alongside Andrew Dixon, Nick is now responsible for a Construction division within 8build. Nick and Andrew’s division is diverse in it’s nature delivering a range of predominantly structural refurbishment and new-build projects for prestigious clients across a variety of sectors, under multiple procurement routes. Under their management, the division promotes a pro-active approach offering value solutions to challenging projects.

Nick studied at the University of Kent, commencing a career in Construction is 2005, and holds a post-graduate diploma in Quantity Surveying with Construction Management. Nick demonstrated his abilities delivering many successful projects with 8build and has fully embraced and promoted its philosophy and core values. He has exceptional technical Construction knowledge and holds many valued relationships with both professionals and specialist members of our supply chain. Nick is diligent, light-hearted and respectful. His sharp wit and humour are often at the heart of his approach and have no doubt helped him to build relationships and trust within the industry.

Kayleigh joined 8build in 2010. She has worked her way up from Administrative Assistant, to Office Manager in 2012, to then becoming Business Manager in 2014 and then on to her current role as Head of Pre-Construction in 2017. Kayleigh looks after all pre-construction activities and creates winning work strategies.

She started her career in 2006 at Highlife Developments Ltd, a Property Development Company before moving to 8build. Kayleigh is a dedicated team player and an excellent communicator who loves to bring fun to a role that she is passionate about.

Danny started his career in construction at Mansell Construction Services Ltd in 1996. Whilst working there, he completed a degree in Quantity Surveying at Anglia Ruskin University and progressed from the role of Trainee Quantity Surveyor to Senior Quantity Surveyor.

He has vast amount of experience working in all sectors such as fit out, heavy refurbishment and new build projects. He always aims to work with an open, honest and transparent approach and looks to keep 8build’s clients and professional teams informed of any commercial impacts as and when they happen. Danny has a calm, composed and calculated personality.

Jamie started his career in 2004 where he gained comprehensive knowledge of the industry. He joined 8build at the start of 2016 and heads up the new build division along with Richard Easton. With a commercial background, he brings with him a broad range of skills including contractual knowledge, business planning, bid winning and functional leadership, supported by his technical ability. He has a BSc in Quantity Surveying and has been a member of the RICS since 2014.

Within the new build division, Jamie is responsible for the surveying and commercial teams, he also takes on an active role in business development and work winning, and assists the delivery teams in project completion.

Chris specialises in delivering Developer-led fit out projects across a variety of sectors including High End Residential, Commercial and Arts & Leisure. Chris’s commitment to delivering excellent projects shines through as he brings energy, enthusiasm and a proactive approach to the team.

Chong joined 8build in 2010 as an estimator and became Head of Estimating in 2016. Chong is committed and a passionate individual who believes in ‘when you love what you do, it shows’ and brings that attitude to all of his bids. Chong has completed both his BSc (Hons) Building Contract Management and MSc Construction Project Management degrees.

Chong heads up all activities within estimating and has a reliable, hard-working team behind him. He is very thorough and has impressive attention to detail, making him a valuable member to the team. Chong manages all projects from Fit out to Construction and ensures a smooth handover to the delivery team when securing projects.

Having joined 8build in 2007, I have delivered many projects ranging from fast track fit out, heavy refurbishment and new build. I have worked across multiple sectors including high end residential, education and commercial developments.

As a Divisional Director, I am responsible for resourcing each project effectively, overseeing all aspects of each project including construction, financial, health and safety and ensuring each project is delivered to the highest standards and to the satisfaction of our clients.

Business development is an integral part of my role, bringing in new clients and building on existing relationships to create future opportunities for us and our clients.

Robert graduated from the University of Manchester with an Electrical Engineering degree in 2002. He took a role as a Junior Engineer with CEL Building Services, he then moved up the ranks to Contracts Manager before moving to BW Interiors in 2011 as an Engineering Manager and then on to 8build in 2014.

He has a broad experience in the fit-out market and has worked on several successful prestigious projects, with a keen emphasis on programme delivery, whilst keeping the calibre of installation to the highest of levels. Robert prides himself on his clear and precise communication, whilst providing pro-active support to all parties.

Leslie has had over 25 years experience in the Construction Industry. He joined 8build in 2013 as Divisional Director of the New Build division. Leslie has had experience of being a Contract Manager, Project Coordinator and Director and has experienced a wide range of construction types, employing different techniques and disciplines. His roles have consisted of Site Manager at Wates, Contracts Manager at both Allen Construction then Hutchinson Construction, Building Services Manager at Carman Construction, Construction Manager at Wilmott Dixon and Operations Manager at Osbourne Construction before starting at 8build. Leslie takes pride in inspiring confidence in the 8build delivery structure.

Andy is the Director of 8build Asia. He has over 30 years of experience in the industry. Andy joined DG Jones and Partners in 1985 as a Trainee Surveyor, where he was involved in a wide range of multi-million pound new build projects in the Middle East and Far East. He then went on to join Tellings, the contracting arm of developer Speyhawk Plc as a Surveyor, working on a number of multi-million pound new build projects in London.

His career further progressed in 1993, working in Singapore for a joint venture project between Wimpey Construction Singapore Limited and Woh Hup (Pte) Ltd. Andy joined ISG in 1995 and worked on a variety of fit out and refurbishment projects. During his ten years there, he spent 18 months with ISG Asia in the Kuala Lumpur office. Prior to his departure, Andy was a Divisional Financial Director for a London Fit Out Division; having worked his way through the ranks from project level. Andy joined 8build in 2005 as Commercial Director as one of the original eight. He moved to Singapore in 2010 to head up 8build Asia. Andy is a team player who enjoys working with like minded colleagues who are all respected in the industry. He enjoys sharing 8build’s values and ethics with our clients in Asia.

Edward started his career at Rosser & Russell as an apprentice Mechanical Engineer. He gained experience and progressed within the company, while being involved in a wide variety of projects.  This included multi-million pound London offices, Heathrow and pharmaceuticals.  He joined ISG as a Technical Services Manager in 1997, working on office fit out & data centre projects across London.

In 2007 Edward joined 8build as an Engineering Manager, he progressed to Project Manager and is now a Divisional Director.  Working at 8build he has continued to be involved in a wide variety of projects in the refurbishment and fit out project sectors, including educational, laboratories, historic building refurbishment, hospital & theatre. Edward works with Ian, Paul and Carl, bringing his Building Services background knowledge and 30 years of experience to bear on project planning and delivery. He has been with 8build since the early stages and shares 8build’s values and ethics, for delivering superb projects to satisfied clients.

Richard joined 8build in 2015 following a lengthy career in fit out and refurbishment management. Richard runs his own division, concentrating on commercial, leisure and higher education refurbishments and fit outs. His division have successfully delivered many projects from a ‘light touch’ to having heavier structural alterations.

As Divisional Director, he is responsible for all aspects of the division from finding new clients, delivering an exemplary product to the most stringent safety objectives and ensuring his clients are serviced to the highest level whilst providing value for money.

Richard takes pride in keeping his existing business relationships on a strong footing and looks to repeatedly work with clients/ consultants throughout his career.

Richard joined 8build in 2017 and was promoted to Divisional Director after an initial period as Planning Manager. Working alongside Jamie Godden in the New Build division, Richard has many years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams both pre and post contract, this complements Jamie’s commercial background.

Richard is a Chartered Construction Manager and a passionate team player with over 27 years of experience in the construction industry. Starting his career under in the stewardship of the John Laing Construction training programme, gave him an unrivalled introduction into the world of planning and project controls.

During his career, Richard has worked across many sectors including the new build and refurbishment of commercial, hospitality, retail, leisure, education, defence, rail, underground, airport, motorway, and heavy civils.

With a hands-on approach, our Divisional Director Cliff Broomfield has a wide range of people skills which is vital to meeting project deliverables. He has a great relationship with our supply chain which provides easy access to company directors, so when there are issues needing prompt action this quick avenue streamlines actions to getting them sorted quickly.

Cliff has a passion to deliver a very high quality product and therefore keeps a close eye on the day to day running of his projects, maintaining high standards throughout. Cliff has vast experience from being on the tools in his earlier years to running multiple projects depending on the size as Divisional Director. He has an excellent record of delivering high quality projects to schedule and to a very high standard.

Wayne began his career at ABB Flakt Services Limited as a Trainee Air Conditioning Installation Engineer and quickly progressed through promotion to an Applications Engineer on the completion of his studies. After nine years, he moved to Hussmann Refrigeration where he was responsible for preparing tenders and contract management.

Prior to joining 8build, Wayne worked for ISg InteriorExterior for eight years as a Senior Technical Services Manager. Wayne, a core 8build member has now developed and been promoted to Divisional Director, running a number of projects at one time. He brings a cool calm and meticulously calculated personality when delivering his projects and will always focus on the client and their needs as his number one priority.
