Programme tackling Social Responsibility retains BITC’s Big Tick status in 2011
8build is proud to announce that its programme tackling social responsibility has retained its Big Tick status in Business in the Community’s (BITC) 2011 Awards for Excellence.
We achieved the Big Tick in the 2010 Small Company of the Year Award. Our programme was credited for our Giving Back programme and we have been able to demonstrate that it is still a fantastic example that continues to have a significant positive impact on the communities around us, resulting in this reaccreditation.
The Big Tick award is the first level of award available to entrants of the national Awards for Excellence, which recognise inspirational programmes that are making a positive impact on the community, the environment or wider society. Reaccreditations are given to companies that can demonstrate the continuing positive impact of their award-winning initiative. It is open to companies that won a Big Tick for the first time in 2010 and 2009 winners that opted to re-accredit their scheme last year.
Stephen Howard, Chief Executive, Business in the Community said: “I congratulate 8build on achieving their Big Tick. It is a challenging time for business, but this is a sign that companies are not losing their focus and are transforming their businesses to make a positive impact on people and society and are prepared to lead by example. That’s what Business in the Community’s Awards for Excellence are all about – celebrating responsible business, the leadership that makes it happen and the benefits to the business and society of doing so. Communities and consumers need to see that businesses are proactive, visible and engaged on the big issues of the day, as 8build has demonstrated.”
