8build Project Director, Wayne Ramson, recently had the opportunity to meet with Her Majesty The Queen, at the official unveiling of the newly refurbished Royal British Legion headquarters. 

The refurbishment undertaken as part of our Giving Back initiative saw the complete refurbishment over 4 floors, as well as extensive repairs to the basement and the roof.

The refurbishment saw the construction of a new front entrance with a 2 level glass façade making up the new reception, installing Duplex lifts, construction within the lift shaft, replacing windows with internally glazed systems, new conference rooms, wash rooms, a new canteen and kitchen, as well as the re-landscaping and repair to the external areas of the building.

The team worked hard to minimise any disruption to the local residents and businesses, by scheduling work around peak times keeping noise levels to a minimum.

The work carried out has coincided with the charity celebrating it’s 89th anniversary, Director General Chris Simpkins stated, “The Legion is not just about those who served in wars past but about campaigning and caring for current service personnel and their families.”
