8build Upgrades the English Martyrs Church, Grade 2 Listed Building
8build are supporting the English Martyrs Church 15 week project as part of their ‘Giving Back’ initiative to assist charities in the community at cost value. The church is a Grade 2 listed building in Streatham and is the centre for 26 community organisations including scouts, alcoholics anonymous and refugee groups. The church was first opened in 1894 and now requires refurbishing, as well as an upgrade of the facilities to meet the needs of the 21st Century.
The project consists of fitting out the 6,000ft2 church area with the ultimate aim to enhance the churches presence in Streatham. This entails the development of access to the building, a new parish office, meeting space, new reception/entrance to the main hall and new kitchen and toilet facilities. Additionally a new link extension between buildings is to be installed.
Within this project, we will be installing more economical lighting and heating, as well as introducing additional lighting into the area. The disabled access will be developed as well as the yard access to internal areas, which will create better use of a badly planned space.
