8build support 'The European Odyssey Challenge' to raise money for Christies Hospital

A team of six are undergoing a 3,000 mile drive across Europe to raise money for one of the country’s leading cancer hospitals. One team member was given less than a year to survive in October 2006 once being diagnosed with an aggressive form of kidney cancer. Christie’s Hospital, Manchester provided him with ground-breaking treatment, giving him a 40% chance of survival. Quentin and his friends aim to raise £10,000 by driving three ‘luxury vehicles’, all of which were purchased under £500 through 12 European countries in 7 days.

The vehicles are; a 1988 Jaguar Sovereign, a 1988 BMW 7 series and a 1980’s Chevrolet Van similar to the one used in the popular television series A Team. 8build have sponsored the vehicles undertaking the journey and the planned route will take them through France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Czech Republic, Holland and Germany, where the cars will complete a lap of the legendary Nurburgring. If the cars are still running the destination list will stretch to Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland.

Top cancer hospital, Christie’s in Manchester is doing sterling work in the treatment of cancer and is one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe. One in three of us are affected by cancer and the funds raised will help Christie’s go a long way towards paying for projects that could dramatically improve treatment for patients and take us all towards a future without cancer.
