8build Win British Land Award


The British Land Building Together awards, recognises suppliers and sites that have excelled in ensuring maintenance and works are conducted with great corporate responsibility, by balancing economic, environmental and social criteria. Nominees are selected on delivering value and making a difference to the customers and communities.

8build having been nominated twice in the category and won the award for works carried out at Pilgrim Street.

The site at Pilgrim Street was a CAT ‘A’ fit out to 3 floors, from traditional lawyer space. The strip out and subsequent works produced 631,854kgs of waste, through working together with the waste management contractor, 8build recycled 97% of all the waste produced. In addition to recycling, any reusable furniture available onsite was donated to local charities.

The other site for which 8build were nominated was The Diorama Arts Centre. This development generated over 42kg of waste, of which 91% was recycled and prevented from entering landfill.

The average waste recycled on all 8build sites in 2009 was 90%.
