FAQ's

What size projects do you carry out?
Anything from £1,000 to a maximum of £20m although we have teams with delivery history of delivering project up to £50m.

How are you finding the market?
Currently the construction market is extremely competitive with clients adding more contractors to their tender lists, there are also contractors moving into sectors that they typically do not deliver within. In some respects prices are reducing, especially labour, but in others manufacturing costs are rising due to reduced quantities, therefore, expected buying gains for clients are not at the levels predicted 6 months ago.

Do you have a design capability?
We do not have in house designers, we contract out any design to established reputable design practices. This removes any conflict of interest that sometimes occurs with contractors in house designers where design is compromised by factors such as cost.

How are you different from your competitors?
We are wholly owned by ourselves, therefore we have key members of staff who have a personal interest in insuring project success. We also offer aspects of ‘Lean Construction’ to our clients which can provide considerable benefit to their projects.

What are your accident statistics?
We have never had a reportable accident, AIR is 0.

How can a subcontractor become part of the 8build supply chain?
Simply provide us with details of your company, a record of previous work successfully completed, some references, then complete our Stage 1 Competency Questionnaire, and we will be in touch.

How do you deliver a quality product?
A high quality project requires planning from the very start; beginning with the appointment of the correct subcontractors, through the various sign off and inspection processes, then ending with a finish product that has been snagged and de-snagged to the client and design teams total satisfaction.

Do you have your own labour to carry out work?
All works that we undertake are subcontracted to an established supply chain. We do have a general foreman who carries out small works and general maintenance works for our established clients.

Do you have in-house health and safety officers?
All of our staff are responsible for insuring all of our sites run safely. We employ Richardson Hill Ltd (
www.richardson-hill.co.uk) as our health and safety advisers, they maintain an independent view on all of our projects to insure we deliver safe projects for our clients, eliminating and reducing risk wherever possible.
